8. Adopter Commitments

I understand the horse will never be sold, transferred, or surrendered to a slaughter buyer, kill pen, livestock auction, or any party who could direct the horse to slaughter. I agree to TTP’s right of first refusal: if I can no longer keep the horse for any reason, I will offer the horse back to the Thoroughbred Transition Project before any other sale, transfer, or rehoming. I will not return the horse to racing and will not breed the horse without TTP’s prior written consent. I agree to notify TTP of any change of physical location, ownership, lease arrangement, or major medical event affecting the horse. I agree to allow occasional welfare check-ins, photos, or visits at reasonable intervals. I will provide routine veterinary care, farrier care, appropriate forage and shelter, and humane handling for the life of the horse in my care.
